A birthday card

Good evening everyone

I have just had a quick check on what it is was I wrote about last & noticed that I actually started with .................. "God evening" ..................

Now computers are wonderful things & I always run a spell check - but of course it doesn't work in the example above.  So sorry about that.

I have been quite busy over the weekend wiht making Christmas cards & most of it them in sets. One set was for the people with whom I go to lunch once a month & the the other set was the 15 for Bob. I have also made some other Christmas cards for me.  That is, the ones that I send out other than those already mentioned.

But yesterday I took a few moments away from Christmas to make a birthday card for an elderly cousin of mine  - who will be 89 this week.

I was quite fortunate in the fact that I did have a a basis for his card - my demo at the CSNW meeting last Wednesday of the one layer card.  I had done quite a few in those shades of blue & felt that I needed a change so I did more autumnal colours.  When I looked at it the next day I knew it would be just right for the birthday card.  Here it is;


The leaves are from a set by Clearly Besotted, the "Happy Birthday" is an unmounted rubber stamp I have had for ages & the flowers were from a five-petal punch which I coloured with inks similar to the strip on the card.  The leaves were embossed in Moon Glow EP -  Midnight Emerald Obsidian - which is a beautiful dark green.

My cousin loves his garden & I hope that he will love this card & it is not over flowery & therefore not feminine.

CSNW Photos & last post

 Good afternoon ladies this afternoon I have the photos from the CSNW S&T for June. The theme I set was any theme of their choosing but using the colours red, white & blue.  Here are their cards. Amy Two nice classic style cards from Amy Grace Simplicity is the key here They are so elegant too. Gwen Beautiful embossed card & flowers which have been decoupaged Joan A stepper card with a beautiful circular central topper. Thank you ladies for sending them in - certainly very different styles today. So! - Last post? Over the last year or so all 3 clubs have been getting themselves sorted out in order to continue running the clubs from now on. Remember I announced in 2019 that I would be standing back at the end of 2020 & retiring.  I will of course keep in touch & visit the meetings now & again.  But it is now time for me to hang up my stamps.  Well not literally as I will still make cards - but you know what I meant. All 3 clubs now have the way forward sorted.  C

 Just to let the CSNW ladies know I have updated the page showing their Show & Tell cards for this month. Due to a problem with WhatsApp I didn't receive Ruth's card - I have now & have updated the post to include her card.

Jayne Nestorenko

Good morning I was informed this morning, by Rita of Mold II club, that Jayne Nestorenko had passed away on Saturday evening after a long illness. I suspect that there may be some amongst you who do not know of her - but many who do. I followed Jayne's work for a long time & many of those lovely large wooden stamps that were around came into my collection beause of her enthusiasm & creativity. I particularly enjoyed using, & held many workshops at Daleside, to show how to use the Treasure Box stamps which were very popular; I cannot now remember who made those stamps & there were different sizes & you made different shaped boxes according to how many pieces you stamped.  Then of course you also had the matching medallion stamp to place on the top of the box. The crafting world is saddened by the loss of this lovely lady. Sleep peacefully Jayne.
