just chatting

Hi everyone - well! what awful & mixed weather we have had today. I don't have any rubber stamping or paper craft news for you today as most of my day has been taken up with getting to grips with a crochet pattern I am about to give to my two crochet classes. I was taken with something I saw on the Internet & the lady that does the video does not have any written instructions so I had to watch the video over & over & write the instructions down as I watched.  Then I had to work it to see if I had got the instructions correctly.  There were one or two things where I knew what my notes meant but had to be rewritten to make sense for others. Finally just before lunch I got the piece of work made. One of the things I find frustrating is the quality of some yarns these days - so many times today the yarn split.  Not because I stuck my crochet hook in it wrong but because of the makeup of the yarn. These days knitting yarns are not cheap I am just glad I do not do

first Christmas card !!

Image
First made that is - not first received. This happened more by accident than design.  Whilst having a crafty morning I realised that I did not have a sample of the card that CSNW will be making in May & it is their April meeting on Wednesday.  So, I thought I had better make one.  The first box I looked in for inspiration had a printout left over from a Christmas card I had designed last year through Serif, so I decided to use that. The card is a diorama card & here it is; Because I needed to make this one a little quicker I did not use the template that Carolyn of Mold II had given me - you may remember the wedding card & anniversary card I made using it - it had fancy sides. The main image in the card is printed directly onto the background & then I printed just the topper twice & decoupaged it, cutting the bow out of the second copy.  I still have some peel-offs in a box (I don't use them much these days but they are always handy) & these h

member showcase

Good afternoon everyone I hope your weekend is going well. Today I have a member showcase for you & today it is Annette from Mold II club.  She has one of her cards featured on the letters page of the latest issue of "Simply Cards & Papercraft"; Here is the card along with Annette's letter & below is a larger version of the card itself. That freebie stamp set that Annette is talking about was particularly nice - I just love the stamps from " Clearly Besotted " & have quite a few. By the way this issue of SC&P has a really nice embossing folder & stamps as a freebie this month. Well done once again Annette it is a really lovely card.

a couple of birthday cards

Image
Good morning everyone & it looks like being a good sunny day & also the weekend approaches.  I hope that you have some nice things lined up to do. Today I have a couple of recently made birthday cards to show you; This is the card that I made for our grand-daughter.  It is a 6x6 square card that I have coloured with Distress Inks & then stamped flourishes into the 2 corners.  The topper is a very thin canvas which again I coloured with toning Distress Inks.  I added a little texture in one corner with texture paste & a stencil & then stamped the images & sentiment in black ink.  The stamps - once again were freebies & are Sheena Douglass designs. The second card is this one; For the background of this card I used one of the pages I had created on my Gelli Plate. After distressing the edges I stamped the Butterfly Birthday Wishes Flourish (which was another freebie recently along with a butterfly embossing folder).  Then in the 2 corners

Mold II photos

Hi everyone well, here I am at last with the photos from Tuesdays Mold II meeting. We had a brilliant evening with our visitor Dawn who started by giving us a little of her background in her craft life.  She followed this with lots of hints & tips about card making & then demonstrated colouring in a stamped image.  As I said in my very quick post last night - I got so engrossed in watching & listening I forgot about taking photos.  But at the time Dawn showed us this technique using Copic's pens she was surrounded by the ladies watching intensely. So before the end of the evening I called for volunteers to stand & watch Dawn "doing" a demo. I had 2 volunteers - thank you Elma & Annette; Watching how Dawn coloured that balloon in that image was the reason I forgot the photos.  Did I mention I forgot to take photos :)  It is amazing how those colours blend when done the correct way. This is 2 examples that Dawn brought with her

just chatting

Hi everyone - sorry, I am afraid it is a just chatting post this time.  It really should have been a post about last nights Mold II meeting, but I have had a pretty busy day with preparation, (making sure I have everything I need), for a rubber stamping workshop tomorrow morning, & some research for an upcoming crochet workshop - they want to see something very different.  This means that I ran out of time to sort the photos.  So I will do that tomorrow - I promise. But that said - it was an excellent evening.  Dawn was our visitor & I have described her as the lady who demonstrates for Lily of the Valley stamps but of course she is more than that & she gave us a great insight into her background. For this meeting I did remember to take my camera - but was so engrossed in Dawn's demonstration about colouring that although I had asked her if she minded photos being taken - I forgot to take them.  But some were taken later. So once again apologies Mold II ladies but

Message about meeting tonight - Mold II

I had a phone call from Dawn last night & she is going to be including colouring in her demo tonight - so if you read this (& I have sent emails out as well) bring with you any colouring pens / pencils you have. NOTE; This will probably apply to CSNW ladies next Wednesday & Mold ladies later in April - I will also send out emails to you all later.

mold - project 2014 - part 7

Good afternoon everyone - what a difference in the weather today. I have been very good this morning & made 2  birthday cards with another one partially done which I will show you in a few days. What I have photos of today is another 2014 project & this time it is Lynn of Mold club whose round robin book had a theme of "buildings"; Great ideas & buildings. I am sure Lynn is very happy with what the group produced. That is me for today - more tomorrow.  'Bye for now.

mold photos - part 3

Good morning everyone & what a beautiful morning it is. I have some more photos from the Mold meeting for you. After I posted last night I realised there were more for me to show you - so rather than rush & get it wrong I have left it until this morning to do. These are the 2 samples that Rita made when demonstrating the use of inks with the Gelli Plate. The main group of photos that were not included in yesterdays post were those of Rita demonstrating the use of paint; Rita demonstrating use of paints An interested group watching Rita when she moved to demonstrating inks. and some of the ladies trying the paint technique ................... There, that is all of them now.  It was a very good evening. Have a great Sunday - enjoy this sunshine.  I am off into the garden to potter & also to sort some craft boxes that were put "temporarily" into the summerhouse.  Wonder what I hav
