first Christmas card !!

Image
First made that is - not first received. This happened more by accident than design.  Whilst having a crafty morning I realised that I did not have a sample of the card that CSNW will be making in May & it is their April meeting on Wednesday.  So, I thought I had better make one.  The first box I looked in for inspiration had a printout left over from a Christmas card I had designed last year through Serif, so I decided to use that. The card is a diorama card & here it is; Because I needed to make this one a little quicker I did not use the template that Carolyn of Mold II had given me - you may remember the wedding card & anniversary card I made using it - it had fancy sides. The main image in the card is printed directly onto the background & then I printed just the topper twice & decoupaged it, cutting the bow out of the second copy.  I still have some peel-offs in a box (I don't use them much these days but they are always handy...

Christmas cards

Image
Good afternoon everyone I am popping in to show you another of my Christmas card designs; This design uses the same embossed card front but this time has a gold embossed star image on it topped with a bow.  (This bow looks like it is about to fall off - I better check it before I use it).  I also embossed in gold the word Joy above & below the image.  The star was cut out & then placed on foam pads. So that is my Show & Tell for today.  More later.

Christmas card

Good evening I thought it was time I showed you some photos of the different styles of stamped Christmas cards I have been making recently. This is the first one; I have embossed the front of a scalloped edge card with an embossing folder that has snowflakes bordering an open plaque.  Amongst my collection of Christmas stamps that I do not recall using before, was this lacy Christmas tree.  I stamped & embossed in gold then cut them out.  A couple of gems to add some sparkle & mounted on foam pads.  The word Noel was stamped above & below & also embossed in gold. There are two more to show you & I will save them for other posts. Tomorrow is the final 2014 meeting for the CSNW ladies, & as I am not 100% yet Bob is going to be driving me over.  He does spoil me doesn't he.  So Thursday there will be photos from the meeting. More tomorrow.  'Bye for now.

a christmas card

Good morning - I have just remembered I still have one of my Hunkdory Christmas cards to show you & when things quieten down here I will have to make some more from the kit. Nice & simple - just the topper raised on sticky pads & a peel off greeting.  The border at the bottom is part of the background paper. That's my quick visit - 'bye for now.

Also I thought I would try out the free card making pack.  I have made 4 ca...

my first Christmas card

Image
.. which is really a practice run on the idea. Hello everyone - how is your weekend going? A couple of days ago I decided it was time to try out one of my ideas for the Christmas cards I will be making. In this recent tidy up I saw a Christmas stamp I hadn't used - it was part of a set & I had used some of the set but not the main image. Here is the card; I can't remember who the stamp is by - but it consists of the wording with a poinsettia set in the middle.  So I stamped & embossed it in gold on white card,  then stamped a second poinsettia.  One of my new sets of frame dies was just the right size - it did pinch off a little of the lower petal of the flower, but when I layered the second flower on top that laid above the frame so it didn't matter.  The next size up frame die I used for the gold card.  I layered the gold card onto the base card, then the white card onto the gold card then the second flower.  I had cut out a couple of...

Christmas cards

Image
Good evening everyone This afternoon I took some of my Christmas cards to the next stage & added the toppers to the base card; When I was looking among my ribbon boxes (yes I have more than one) for the ribbons to use I got a bit fed up with the mess they had got into.  So I left the cards for a while & sorted the ribbons. I now have two boxes that contain reels of ribbon - both large & small & also 12 poly-bags that contain lengths of ribbon.  I was amazed at the different colours I had collected over time & it was quite interesting sorting them out - remembering why & when I had bought them. Red seems the biggest selection in this set.  The colours in this group are - red, green, gold, cream, burgundy & festive. In this group the colours are - white, blue, lilac/purple, yellow/orange, pink & black I also found a few strings of tiny beads - well they are not beads actually - not sure how to describe them...

Is this your card

Image
Here I am with the question of the anonymous Christmas card Did you give this card to me? There is a lot of work in this card it was in a white envelope with just my name on it.  Sadly because I put all the cards the various club members gave on the table when I got home - I cannot be sure which club I brought it home from.  So please if it is your card send me a message so that I can write inside who it is from.  If no-one responds through the blog I will ask at the clubs meetings in January. Bob & I returned hone this evening after a really lovely few hours with our friends chatting, over a really good meal at the Cheshire Cat, for me to arrive home to some very sad news of the passing of a colleague. You just never know when life is going to throw these things at you - I am absolutely devastated it was so unexpected.  My thoughts are with his family & those of many others who may lose friends & loved ones at this or any time....

Another Christmas Card

Image
Yes another Christmas card with that lovely flourish Christmas Tree. This time I have embossed it in silver rather than gold - to make a change & added some silver ribbon at the side & the smaller Merry Christmas greeting.  The greeting that goes with the tree was too big this time as I made a lightly smaller card.  I have entered it into a blog challenge where the theme was Glamour & Glitz in a clean & simple design. You can see more about it on my personal blog. That's it - just thought I would pop back & show you.

Variation on a theme

Image
Over the last couple of weeks I haven't shown much of my stamping - this is mainly because I have been busy making the Christmas Cards I give to each of you - so I don't want to show them beforehand. Today I made one large card which as I say in the title of the post is a variation on one I have already done. When I made this card before I decorated it vertically with gold ribbon - this time I embossed the vertical & horizontal lines twice leaving a .5cm gap between them, then laid the narrow gold peel off border between the scored lines.  I added a couple of gold gems for bling, a greeting & 2 of the star bursts on the side. I have decided to make another of these cards - again slightly different - to enter a challenge where they want clean & simple but with bling.   Tomorrow I will have the photos of the Show & Tell from tonight's Mold II meeting.  The photos from the project will not be shown until after Mold's meeting which is this T...
