An afternoon of play

Image
Hello everyone.  It was meant to be a play day not half-day but after I had sat & thought which actual play I was going to have, a lot of the day had gone. Last Thursday I mentioned in my post that I was going to start an Art Journal, well that is what my play today turned out to be. Do you remember me showing you this? It was from a paint workshop I attended & the background technique did not quite come out as it should have done.  Nevertheless - it means I have a piece of work done by me & a problem of how to keep it & what to learn from it.  Well, I think I know what I have learnt from it & that is, a more correct way to do the background.  So that is another task for another day. I thought I would make this the first piece of work in my new Art Journal, but before it went in there I would see what I could do with it.  That is where a lot of my time went today, because I had a good browse on the Internet for ideas. ...

Having a play

Good afternoon everyone I hope you all had a great weekend & that all you mum's were utterly spoilt. Bob & I met up on Saturday with one of his friends of many years (we do meet up at regular intervals for a meal & a chat) - but this time one of his son's came along with his wife & Gareth & Elayne came along as well.  Gareth wanted Elayne to meet Nigel before the wedding in October. Today I have some photos for you of a technique I have been playing with.  The initial result is very "naive" (at least I think that's the word I want), & I have my next more serious play lined up to do. I will be including this tech...

Gelli plate play

Good afternoon everyone - how is your weekend? This morning I have been having a play with my new toy - the Gelli Plate.  I decided to purchase the 6x6 size as I thought I would get more use from it rather than a bigger one.  I did some research on the Internet & You-Tube to add to the information I had gleaned from Rita's demo & have decided I will probably purchase a small one for use with tags as I absolutely love some of the things I saw. My play today was with Adirondack inks as stamping is what I mainly do - but in the week I am going to try some acrylic paints as well. Here are my first efforts - they weren't produced to any theme, or for an end use - just play; On this, my first attempt, I merely brayered 2 colours of ink, then stamped the fairy into one corner of the plate with black ink.  I then placed my piece of card & "pulled" the print.  See, I have even picked up the technical terms :).  Afterwards I stamped the image agai...
