My "me time"

Image
Good afternoon everyone - I hope you all had a good weekend. Today I have a photo of another mixed media item that I created recently.  I started it last Thursday when I was showing the technique to my 3 rubber stamping ladies at the craft shop. Here is the square; The colours are much better "in the flesh". I didn't want to make another card - so I had a think about it, then remembered a selection of papier mache boxes I have stashed away.  Took a look at the collection & found I had a square one just the right size.  So I decided it would go on the lid. Before gluing it down I painted the inside of the lid & the box & then the base of the box with black acrylic paint.  On the sides of the lid I used Inka Gold wax.  I cut a strip of black card to go around the box & then stamped a flourish on each side.  To stamp the image I used the Inka gold wax - when it is dry & polished it looks great. Here is the box from on...

Sometimes things don't .............

.............. quite work out as you want them to. I promise not to continue the theme of the last post - when I basically moaned about my day.  But the day before that I had decided to finish the mixed media topper - or rather start it - from the evening with the Mold II ladies last week.  On last Sundays post when I showed the Mold II photos of their mixed media cards I mentioned I hadn't had time to do mine during the evening & that also I would do mine in pale colours rather than the black finish for a change. So! I laid out my pieces; The colours you can see on it are the actual colours of the pieces I used. My next step was to cover it all with white Gesso; Things going quite well at the moment. I then spent a little time thinking about the next stage.  What pale colours was I going to use & what medium would they be in. For some strange reason I decided on an overall cover of a shade of pink.  Which I arrived at by mixing ...

A mixed media card

Image
Hi everyone. Earlier today I took some time out for a "me time" session & worked on another mixed media card - this time with some stamping.  I suppose it could be described as mixed media & collage.  Here is the card; It started off as a 12x12 patterned scrap book page which I cut into four 6x6 pieces.  I decorated one & have 3 pieces left for more cards. I have posted this card along with a very detailed description of how I made it on my Rubber Stamping blog which you can get to by clicking on the link at the right hand side of this page. I used various media & elements - mask with Distress Ink, sequin waste with filler paste, watercolour paints, sequin waste, paper topper, background stamps, paper flowers & flourish, flat backed gems. At the moment it doesn't have a sentiment on the front - I am looking for the right stamp. The finished page was layered onto black card then onto a white base card.  I really enjoyed doing th...

just chatting

Hi everyone - just popping in for a little chat & to show you a mixed media card I made this morning.  It was really just a dabble in the hope my creativity mojo could be found.  I spent quite a long time looking at papers, changing my mind, then looking out bits & pieces. The card I finally made is mainly monotone & I think another will be made tomorrow with a little more colour to it. Here is the card; I covered half of the card front with a pale grey "distressed look" paper, tearing the edge.  This was attached to the card with matt medium which was also used to fix all the other items too.  The textured dots at top & bottom right are made using flexible filler paste through sequin waste (punchinella) as are the two little roses on the left-hand side.  I then added a label toward the centre with blue ribbon threaded through the holes.  To this I added a double layer flower with a white button at its centre.  A little strip...
