Good afternoon everyone.  Brr! it's a bit cold out there this afternoon. This afternoon I have another one of my recently made birthday cards.  This time it is the card I made for our daughter-in-law Nadine who had a birthday at the beginning of the week. I chose this lovely floral die-cut panel for the card thinking I would colour the flowers in in some way, but when I looked at it cut out in the black card I rather liked the simplicity of it.  So I decided to leave it plain.   Then I thought this slightly fancier greeting would be quite complimentary to the floral panel.   I added some pretty teal / blue coloured flat back gems. The panel was then layered onto black card & then onto the base card. This evening is the November meeting of the CSNW club, so I will hopefully have some photos of their show & tell and their project for tomorrow or Friday. I had hoped to make some more Christmas cards this morning - but ran...

Good morning everyone - I hope you are all wrapped up warm if you are out & about. It is really chilly. Did you all have a good weekend?  I had a very pleasant Saturday afternoon & evening spent with my brother on his flying visit. It always cheers me up to see him & have a chat. This week sees a colleague of Bob's reaching an important birthday & so I was tasked with making him a birthday card.  I like if possible to link to the person themselves but this was a little difficult as we were not aware of any particular interests I could use.  Whilst having a peek around Pinterest I spotted an idea that I felt I could tweak for my own use. Here is the card It's straight to the point! I used a 7x5 base white card & some patterned papers from my stash.  They were nice quality papers as they were the ones that I kept when I bought some copies of the Tattered Lace magazine.  It was double-sided so I used the darker pattern for the b...

Good evening everyone I hope you have been having an excellent weekend. Today I have a photo of a birthday card I made this week for our Son-in-law, which has to be made fairly early as it has to go out to the USA.  Just hope we have posted it in time. Whilst I was wondering what to make Bob mentioned that he (our son-in-law) liked the Beatles.  I have a die of a Juke-box which I bought a couple of years ago in order to make a card for my brother who actually has one. So then it was how to incorporate something about the Beatles. Here are 2 photos - the first one is the different elements laid out on my desk, then the second one is the finished card., I die-cut the juke box in black card & also the little music border.  On the Internet I found a royalty free piece of sheet music & printed that.  The coloured card in the photo is one of the sheets from the workshop last week decorated with Brusho crystals. The finished card. I used a 5x7 ...

Good afternoon ladies I hope you have a great weekend planned. This afternoon I have another of my recently made birthday cards; I used an A5 white scalloped edged card & using a long narrow embossing folder embossed both short sides of the card.  It is a shame in one way that the folders are hinged because I couldn't turn it round to get the mirror image. I stamped the bouquet of fantasy flowers & then painted them with my water colour paints.  I popped a little of the pink paint in the circles of the borders as well.  The Happy Birthday was stamped in black archival ink then embossed with clear EP.   A nice clean card. I am hoping to give myself some "me" time this weekend & do some crafting for me - just for my pleasure & interest.  We will see what happens & I will let you know. Have a good weekend.  'Bye for now.

Good afternoon everyone. Before I show you the card can I just say - please go & look at a comment left by Dot under the part 5 of "Christmas cards received".  Click HERE The birthday card I have to show you today is for one of my sisters-in-law who will be 80 later this month.  After giving it some thought I decided to go with one colour & chose gold as it is a special birthday. There isn't any stamping on this one - but every so often I have to make a card that doesn't include stamping & this was one of those occasions. I am pleased with the result - it uses quite a few different textures which seem to have fitted well together. In fact, I was so pleased I have already made the one for my other sister-in-law who will be 80 in November.  I will show you that one tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first meeting for 2017 of the Mold club - it will be so nice to see everyone again. That's all from me today - 'bye for now. .

Good afternoon everyone I hope you are all well & not suffering from this nasty cold that seems to be going around at the moment.  Lots of people I know have had it or have it now.  So look after yourselves & avoid it. Today's card is the one I made for my HSNW club's lucky dip birthday box.  It is our first 2017 meeting tonight & at this first meeting we all take along  a card which goes in a lucky dip box - then when it is your birthday you pull a card out - providing of course you have put one in.  Very much like our lucky dip Christmas card each year. For this card I decided to go for simplicity & used a square scalloped edge cream card.  The images & sentiment I stamped in black ink & embossed with clear EP onto cream card. After trimming them down I glued them onto black card leaving a small border. The flower squares are glued flat & the sentiment is raised on sticky pads.  The stamps were free with...

Good afternoon everyone. The last few days I have been doing well with die-cutting & stamping for Christmas. Then sitting down to do some more, after my shopping spree yesterday, my Gemini started making the most peculiar noises. It sounded like a mixture of the rollers slipping but then something really grating.  So I stopped using it. Thank goodness I still have my E-bosser which I hope will hep me finish the work. I bought the Gemini through Amazon - so went on line & sent an email to the retailer.  This morning I had a message from them to let them have my telephone number (I gave my mobile) & they would talk to the full retailer - which of course is Crafter's Companion!  A company I am not much fond of at the moment due to my problems with their dies. Anyway my troubles dealt with here is something much nicer - the card I made for Nadine to give her mum on her special birthday; This is the box I made to put it in.  After I took the photo...

Good evening ladies I do hope your weekend is going well! Today I have the photos of the 80th birthday card I have made for a friend of ours. He works with Bob & when he was 60 I made his birthday cake.  It just doesn't seem 20 years ago. I used this great little train die to decorate the front of the card as he is very interested in trains. Initially it looks like a fun card.  The background on the front panels I downloaded from Google after asking for royalty free backgrounds of landscapes. I didn't have a card to fit the die-cuts so had to make one to suit.  I resized the landscape background then cut it in half so that when the card is closed the landscape is continuous. This is the background on the main section of the inside.  He is also very keen on the Flying Scotsman - so once again Google & royalty free images came to my rescue.  I just had to resize it to fit my card. The photo of the Flying Scotsman is when it made its ...

Hi again everyone Today I have a photo of the card I made for our grand-daughter who is 20 today. She is a very artistic girl very much like her mother, so it is always difficult to decide what sort of card to make. Do you remember this?............... ............ it was one of the Brusho demo pieces from the CSNW meeting earlier this month. I was watching a demo on TV & the person used a die I had been interested in purchasing - the demo sealed it & I bought the die (well its a set of dies) & I made this card;...................... The splat is the aperture created by the die & I placed my Brusho piece under it.  Looks like a splash of paint on the card.  A nice big sentiment & a couple of small coloured pearls & card done! I am very pleased with this card & I hope she will be too. That's me - another Christmas card to show you tomorrow.  'Bye for now.

Good evening everyone. I have been looking at the photos I take of the birthday cards (& other occasions that I make for ) & I don't seem to have shown you this one & in fact a couple others; I decided that I wanted this one to be mainly white. I embossed a piece of white card with a really nice swirl pattern & then stamped the Dreamees flowers, embossing them  in gold EP I also used one of their flourishes which I stamped on heat proof acetate with gold EP.  The greeting was a single message - so I stamped it & cut the words out individually to fill the centre of the card. I am a little behind in showing you the cards I have recently made - so will blog those over the next few days. Today I had a busy day so didn't have so much time for crafting.  But I pulled out some embossing folders & used them in the E-bosser to see how it is working after I had had that problem the other day. That's me for today. ...

Good afternoon ladies. Well, whilst Bob has been watching Rugby this afternoon I have had a play in my craft room. The other day I sat & made a card, which I actually finished yesterday, & then this afternoon I made 2 more cards - but I an only showing you one of the ones I made today. This is because the other 2 cards will be going to people this next day or so - so I will show you those later. On Monday 8 February (see HERE ), I spoke about some designs that I had left over from a project & how I had turned them into cards. At the end of the post I said I was going to look & see what else there was sitting about that I could use. All 3 clubs have been shown the corner fold card & at each club night I created a card base to show you how easy it was.  This meant I have 3 blank corner fold cards - so today I used one of them; The colour doesn't show as good as it is & I have played about with it, on the photo editor, trying to get it closer to ...

Good afternoon everyone. Well, it is quite sunny & bright - but my oh my - that wind is strong. Today I have a birthday card that I have made for our daughter who lives out in the USA - it is her birthday a little later this month & has to be made & sent off in plenty of time.  She is a very Arty lady so I always find it difficult to pick a design for her. Here is the card; I had been thinking about a design for a few days & then when we went to Tesco's for our shopping on Friday I saw the latest copy of the "Cardmaking & Papercraft" magazine & the free gift this issue is 3 border embossing folders in the Art Deco style. Voila! - card design sorted. I embossed one of the folders twice - the very geometrical design, & the flourish design once. After embossing them I gently rubbed the raised surface with a Gilding Wax.  I have a make called "Gleam" & the colours come in small pots. Really, the only way to apply the...

Good afternoon everyone I realised this morning that I haven't yet shown you the card I made for Bob's birthday which was at the beginning of the month. I embossed a piece of silver mirri card with that lovely link pattern embossing folder. I then die cut the silver frame. Well actually that is not strictly true - I actually tried to die cut a fancy "happy birthday" which had been free on a magazine sometime last year - but try as many times as I could, it would not cut well enough to actually take out of the die cleanly.  So I then cut the silver frame with the aperture & stamped the "it's your birthday" sentiment onto black card with Versamark ink & then heat embossed with silver EP.  I placed the sentiment behind the aperture in the silver frame & added "to my husband" & "happy birthday" from black peel offs.  I then wrapped the ribbon around the embossed mirri card & layered it onto the base white card...

Good afternoon everyone - I hope you are all well. Today I have a photo for you of one of the first birthday cards I have made this new year; This card was for a friend who celebrated her birthday on New Years Day.  The poppies were actually a slightly darker red than they appear here.  (Perhaps if I had taken the photo with my new camera it may have looked better!) I used the dot pattern embossing folder on the base card & rounded the lower corners. The image was stamped in archival black ink & then painted with my pearlescent paints. Finally I tore the card around the design & aged the edges with Distress Ink & mounted it on the embossed card, followed by the Happy Birthday banner. Tomorrow I am going to start photographing the handmade Christmas cards that we received & will show those to you soon.  But on the blog tomorrow -  I have another birthday card to show you. During the rest of this afternoon I am drawing up your c...

Good evening everyone I have just had a quick check on what it is was I wrote about last & noticed that I actually started with .................. "God evening" .................. Now computers are wonderful things & I always run a spell check - but of course it doesn't work in the example above.  So sorry about that. I have been quite busy over the weekend wiht making Christmas cards & most of it them in sets. One set was for the people with whom I go to lunch once a month & the the other set was the 15 for Bob. I have also made some other Christmas cards for me.  That is, the ones that I send out other than those already mentioned. But yesterday I took a few moments away from Christmas to make a birthday card for an elderly cousin of mine  - who will be 89 this week. I was quite fortunate in the fact that I did have a a basis for his card - my demo at the CSNW meeting last Wednesday of the one layer card.  I had done quite a...

Hello everyone I do hope you had a good weekend. We had a lovely family evening on Saturday when we met up for a family birthday meal.  It was Nadine's birthday on Friday, & Gareth & Elayne had also had birthdays during October.  We hadn't had a birthday meal with all 6 of us together for some time - so it was very special, especially as there were 7 of us as we joined by Gareth's stepson as well.  Lovely! I think I mentioned that one of Bobs work colleagues had a birthday this month & that he would be 50. Eventually after sitting & staring at bits & pieces I did get some inspiration & here is the card I made; I remembered that I had some CD's of papers, toppers etc for men from a Company called Jems Designs & they have quite a few vintage styles on them.  I ended up choosing these vintage watches because I have an embossing folder with some on as well & thought I would be able to incorporate it all.  But I didn't like ...

Hi everyone I hope you all had a great weekend & didn't get disturbed by too many Trick & Treaters! Today I have a photo of a recently made birthday card for you; This is for my niece who is making me feel old by celebrating her 50th birthday at the end of this week.  Where oh where have those years gone. Trying to decide what to do I spotted this Pointillism image that I had done a little while ago & thought I would use it.  So I have built it much the same way I built another one I made.  I layered the image onto black card which was then layered onto white card & finally placed on a base black card. I placed it nearer to the fold edge so that I could put the greeting & the 50 down the right hand side. I also made another card but I can't show you that one until after Friday as it is for Nadine our daughter-in-law. Tomorrow I have another card to make for one of Bob's work colleagues who also is 50 this month. As it is for a man ...

A recent birthday card

Good morning everyone I thought this morning I would show you a recent birthday card that I have made, but before I do - I hope all you Mold ladies enjoy your meeting tonight with Joanna & Janet & I look forward to seeing the results of your efforts.  I am very sorry not to be there, but also very sorry to be missing learning how to make those lovely cards. Joanna will also be telling you about the project for the November meeting & I will be putting details here shortly.  Don't forget that it will be the final meeting of 2015 so you need to bring along your lucky dip Christmas card.  Also we could do with some birthday cards for the birthday box ready for early 2016, because there are a couple of ladies who have birthdays in January so we need cards available to hand out. Right, now to my card making. A few months ago I spotted this stamp set - it includes 6 floral sprays, one flower head & 3 flourishes. The have enough empty space in which...

Good evening everyone - just before I show you this birthday card - a little chat about last night's Mold meeting. We had Carolyn from Mold II show the ladies how to make that lovely Diorama card.  Now true to how I manage things these days - I forgot to take my camera, but I was saved because I had my phone.  So tomorrow I will be putting those photos on my laptop to show to you. Before that I must once again thank Carolyn for coming along & showing this card - it was really well received & the ladies were very pleased with their cards. Earlier today I spent a few hours with Caroline - browsing garden centres & having a coffee & a chat. Yesterday was Carolines birthday & it is her card that I am showing you today; The colour has not quite come out right - it was more of a deep violet red than this.  The background is one of Carolines own texture mats which I have had for a long time & recently when looking through a box of things saw ...

Good morning everyone. I wonder where Tuesday went!  In the morning I had a Crochet workshop down at Daleside which went very well - then in the afternoon I cleared my desk of stamps & inks etc from some earlier stamping work. Afterwards I decided what other cards there were to make & sorted out the items for those.  Before you know where you are - Tuesday gone. Today I am having a card making & card preparation day.  But I also have a photo for you of a recently made clean & simple birthday card; On Monday I went to the Happy Stampers club meeting & one of our members was showing the masking technique.  Now most of us use this technique & sometimes those of us who show people "how to" ideas, forget that there are always newbies coming along.  So, it was quite refreshing to watch the techniques being demo'd again, & it set me off thinking of the way I had used it in the past & that meant that this card was born. I u...
