just chatting & some work in progress

Good afternoon ladies. Just to bring you up to date - I had my ultrasound yesterday following a week of injections, for the consultant to see how things were going. I am pleased to say there is no sign of a DVT & the consultant is very pleased.  I will be keeping an eye on my leg as obviously I don't want that to happen again, especially as now I have taken a deep breath & braved a flight to Cyprus earlier this year. I think Bob may have another trip lined up for next year, as our friends in Alicante will be celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary. So what I have I been up to craft wise? I am doing some re-organisation of my craft room - which really is a never ending task, because I keep changing my mind as to how I want things.  I am really pleased with my MDF Die Storage boxes & Stamps Away  - who trade as Clever Cuts, have now brought one out for stamps.  It has acrylic shelves for your stamps to stick to - & you can use both sides - ...

Work in Progress & a birthday card

Image
Hi everyone - sorry I didn't pop in yesterday, but I had a great day out with Nadine & then just flaked out in the evening.  Shopping can make you tired, can't it? So consequently no evening walk - but then I must have got my exercise whilst shopping. A few months ago I purchased some Tattered Lace embossing folders from a colleague & decided it was time I got around to trying them out.  They are the ones that emboss a pattern & have a special gap in them into which you insert different sentiments.  So; This is a couple of tests on quite a dark card. Followed by a couple on Parchment paper.  I really like that effect, & can see me using that more than the coloured card. Every year for a while now I have shown on the blog the handmade birthday cards I receive & this year was no exception.  Recently I was given a card from a club member, apologising for its lateness she had had a lot on her plate at the time.  ...

Some work in progress

Hi everyone - how is your weekend going? Today I have some photos for you of my pieces of work at the recent Mold II club meeting when we played with alcohol inks; These two pieces are the alcohol ink on acetate & then blown with a straw. The one on the left I have shown before as it was one that I did when preparing for this.  The one on the right looks quite strange & is the piece that I used to show the ladies what to do, but I got asked questions like - can you marble through it with a cocktail stick - answer look at the scratches.  It might have worked better if the inks had not dried a little in the meantime.  Can you add more ink - yes. What happens if you add blending solution - the large circles. I am looking to see if I can draw on these pieces as create more interest - such as flowers etc. These 2 pieces were made with the marbling technique & this is the reverse side of those 2 pieces. I love the randomness of this techn...

some work in progress

Good evening everyone I trust you all had a great weekend. Bob & I had a nice lazy one. After doing the weekly shop on Saturday we popped into a newly found snack bar near us called "Chocks away!".  I had been told about it by one of my ladies in the crochet group.  It is on the edge of Hawarden airport actually within the airport grounds, & you have a great view of the runway whilst eating.  Actually snack bar is not a good enough title it is a small restaurant - & food is great. On Sunday we decided to have a run out into the countryside, & the countryside was truly where we went.  Bob loves taking little roads to see where they go - so despite our rather large car - we got to see some fantastic views. We drove out past Betws-y-Coed up into the hills & all around - lost track of the names of places we went through, & the different weather fronts as well.  We ended up in a little country pub we found recently for a very nice meal the...

catching up with....

... some work in progress items. Good morning everyone - I hope you all had a good weekend.  On Saturday we had a visit from Gareth & Elayne & we ended the visit with popping out to lunch - which was very nice.  Quite a good family week - because last Monday we had a meal out with Russ & Nadine.  I love those days. The work in progress? Well I sometimes decide to do things then forget to go back & finish them.  Well, not forget actually - but caught up in other things.  So when I caught sight of the box with all the stamped flowers in, I thought it was time to finish by making actual flowers with them. Remember this box? Flowers cut out ready to put together. They now look like this and this and this and this (sorry - that one is a bit blurry) and finally - this This is all I am left with. They will get used - sometime. Tonight I am off to my Happy Stampers meeting - so must go & p...
