A Christmas card

Image
Good evening everyone. After going for my regular blood test this morning I have had a really successful afternoon with making cards. Firstly I made 4 cards for Bob - so that is his 12 cards completed; These four cards have the same design - the nativity bauble.  I made 2 in silver & 2 in gold. The die was another of those I bought from Ali Express. After these cards I dug out some papers & toppers that had been free on a magazine & are from Tattered Lace.  I chose the cards, how much & which background paper & the topper.  Then I put each one inside it's envelope ready for me to work on tomorrow. The package also included some Christmas stamps from Tattered Lace which are actually quite nice - so they will probably be what I work with next. How do you decide how to make your cards - particularly Christmas?  I start thinking about it towards the end of July by looking at what I already have, then watch for the trends....

...... the card this week with Carolyn. Just had to pop back in today after all. Whilst having a play with (oops sorry whilst -  working on) my Christmas cards this afternoon I had an idea inspired by the frame card from the Mold meeting with Carolyn last night. I had some of my stamping from Thursday night left over & decided to make another card using them. Then I thought about the frame card & thought ......... box!  Not a box to put something in (although effectively I did) but a box on a card. Enough waffling!!!!   Here it is; In the top photo the card is laid down & the lower photo it is stood up, making a tent fold card. I used clear Wink of Stella pen on the poinsettias to lift them but that isn't too clear in the photos. They had been stamped & embossed wit silver EP.  The flower inside the box is on a sticky pad & has been shaped & the flower on the outside is just lightly glued to the frame where it touches. I ...

a Christmas card

God evening everyone Tonight I am showing you one of the Christmas designs that I have used, it's based on the one-layer design. If you look closely you can see that I actually added glitter. Having said hat this one was based on a one-layer card that is true,  but the finished card is not one-layer.  I had originally worked this design to use as a sample, but managed to get a line of ink a short distance above the main image strip which spoilt it.  So I cut away the strip, & layered it onto a piece of black card leaving a very thin border - then added it to the base card.  Waste not want not approach.  The other half of the card - which would have been the back will get used for some stamping for another card. This afternoon I popped over to Bromborough, to the retail park on the A41, to have a look at the new Range store. Obviously at the moment it is Christmas items that dominate - but they had quite a good craft section ...

A Christmas card

Good evening everyone How much more of this rain is there?  Well, I know there are quite a few days more because they said so on the weather forecast.  I went into Chester this morning to collect my glasses & got soaked. It was so dismal I didn't even stop & look around the Christmas market stalls. I have a photo of one of my recently made Christmas cards to show you today. I now have about 3 or 4 different designs & will gradually show them here. Here is today's photo; This one was inspired by the card & canvas I made during a recent workshop. I used a lot of Christmas tree designs last year & was going to stay clear of them this year - but this one got through. Also this morning I got my cards for the USA in the post - so they should arrive in time.  I sincerely hope so as one of the cards was a wedding aniversary card for my step-daughter & her husband. Well that is me for today - I will have some more photos tomorrow & ...

A trial Christmas card

Good afternoon ladies it seems like those high winds have dropped for a while.  It is so sad to see the trees stripped of their leaves so quickly. Today I have a Christmas card to show you using the technique that Joanna showed Mold & Mold II clubs recently.  I think it will probably be the design I use for Bob's 15 cards that I make for him as he did like it.  I think I can manage 15 like that, with some slight variation of course. Here is a photo - but - you are to ignore the slight error; The error is that I got a little enthusiastic with the inking session & went over my masking tape.  I think post-it notes are better as they are bigger & will cover the area better. So there is a slight line just down from the top of the card right across the card. The sentiment being on the slant is not an error.  That was absolutely straight on my acrylic block & I aligned the top edge of the block with the lines on my glass mat.  L...
