No stamping, but ...........

................ I have made a card for a challenge.  After quite a long spell away I have entered a digital challenge over at CD Sunday The theme this week was - quilted fun.  Here is my card I had fun creating this.  I took a 7x5 card & drew around a tea plate to get the curved edge for a rocker card.  Then I chose a Forever Friends CD & printed out the 2 background papers - one pink one blue.  I then cut them into 1" squares, added some faux stitching & created the quilt.  I did a little 3-d work on the Teddy topper - just his feet & his toy teddy.  Because it was a bit flat I created a pillow from one of the backing papers that I edged with lace & also put some sticky pads in the centre of it to make it look padded. I then created 2 little fold back squares to make it look like the quilt was being pushed back.  Some lace around the curved edge, some buttons & a congratulations - card done. I was very please...

A challenge card

Hi everyone just thought I would let you see a card I made this morning for a challenge blog. The theme was "round & round", a subject that had been used in another challenge I entered earlier this week. This one has stamping; I think the stamp set was free on a magazine. I hadn't decided what I was going to be doing for this challenge but as I tidied some stamps away this set jumped out at me.  The card design is very simple & clean which is just as well as it is for the "Less is More" challenge blog. The gems are the round & round along with the swirls.  After I had made this one I thought of lots of other things that could go in those spaces - so the stamps are still on my desk.  We will see. I also made another card as a sample for a workshop next week - but I was in such a hurry to get it down to the craft shop I forgot to photograph it.  Will have to do it next time I am down there. Well, the weekend is here again - so have...

Another page & a challenge card.

Hi everyone - how are you all? Last night after making that sheet of mixed media altered paper I couldn't wait to start another one. So I started it last night & finished it off this morning. Again, if you are interested in how I did it, then please pop over to my rubber stamping blog where I have described the different stages. I also made a card for this weeks CD Sunday challenge - where the theme was Home Sweet Home  There is a full description on my digital blog - but the main thing is the faded black & white image has had a hole cut in it & the coloured image placed behind the hole.  You will probably, as always, see the paler side of the image if you click on the photo & get a larger view. I have also been reasonably busy making sure I have everything in order for Wednesday evening which will be the last 2013 meeting for the CSNW club. Right! I must off & do something more domestic.  'Bye for now.

If you want the info of how I made it - pop over to my stamping blog. Right - now back to Christmas cards. 'Bye for now.

Card for a challenge

Image
Today I have made one or 2 cards for challenges, but only one has been stamped so I thought that would be the one to show you. The challenge was over at a blog called Less Is More & the theme this week was Music - on a one layer card. Here is my entry The stamps are from a company called Chocolate Baroque & the set is called Music Fanfare.  I stamped the violin first & then created a mask from thin paper.  Then after placing the mask on the image I stamped the music.  I am really pleased with this card.  I have, as always, had the stamps a while & this is the first time I have used them.  There are some other nice designs on there too - so I think these may be what I make my cards from over the next few days. Looking at the photo - I expect the violin would look good embossed - possibly even extra thick embossed. Might give that a try.  Watch this space. So the snow has arrived again.  When I went into Mold yeste...

Good morning everyone Well I find it hard to believe but despite a late night last night after a great evening at Bob's Christmas Do - I have actually made a card for a challenge blog. The one today is over at The CD Sunday Challenge blog where their chosen theme is - Oh Christmas Tree.  I did think of combining my lovely Christmas Tree stamp with some CD papers, but changed my mind & did it all through the CD.  Naughty I know I should have used  a stamp.  Maybe next time. Here is the card I made ..................... After a few moments thinking about what style of card to do I plumped for an easel card & took one of my 8x8 fancy edge cards to use. The papers, images& sentiment are from a Christmas CD from the My Craft Studio range.  The sentiment is the poem - "Oh, Christmas Tree!"   All the elements were layered onto silver mirror card after I had, whilst in MCS , "layered" them digitally with a blue border.  The stoppe...

A challenge card

This afternoon I tidied the magazines under my table beside my chair & found that the December issue of Craft Stamper still had its free stamp on it.  When I first saw it I knew I had to use it - but in my own fashion promptly forgot.  It was Chocolate Baroque & was a snowflake. One of the challenge blogs I like to enter as much as possible is one called Less Is More & their new challenge this week is a colour theme - Red & Green. When I set you a colour challenge I always say that the colours quoted are the only ones to use.  With this blog other colours are allowed but of course as it's title implies these are clean & simple challenges.  So! I knew that this was the time to use the freebie stamp off the magazine. Here is my card The card is a 5x5 scalloped edge white square card & I have randomly stamped the snowflake around the edges of the card with Versamark Ink & then embossed them with Clear EP. Next I stamped the ima...

just chatting & a challenge card

Good morning ladies. I had a busy start to this morning, as I had to go down to near Cheshire Oaks to pick up Gareth - who had dropped his car off for a service.  Will have to take him back again later when it is time to pick it up again. I had been dragging my heels over a particular challenge I was going to enter because of the subject - wings. I really only have butterflies so couldn't easily decide what to do.  Then at the Mold club last night Joanna had a very different stamp that included wings - well one really -but that doesn't matter, so she very kindly lent it to me.  The other thing about the challenge was it had to be a one layer card.  As there were only a few hours left to take part I made it very simply.  Take a look (you can also read about it on my personal blog) ............. Those little word circles at the top of the card I have had for some time - all 9 are one long row - to use them split I had to do some masking.  Then I ha...

a challenge card & a birthday card

Image
Good afternoon ladies A slight improvement in the weather today - so perhaps better weather is on the way.  i haven't seen the forecast today - so I could be way way out in my thoughts. I have managed to do a little crafting today & have made 2 cards.  First a card for a challenge blog his was for a blog called "Crafts4Eternity"  where the theme this week was travel,  The card looks a little grey but it is actually Kraft card & paper. The image is one of a set of various cars & I stamped it in black.  The little embellishments are actually bead-like things that florists use to keep flowers in place, in a clear vase.  They come in all sorts of colours.  They have the advantage over brads that you don;t have to pierce the card. With some masculine birthdays still to come during the year - this will be very suitable.  So I will have to make some more using the other cars. I also made another birthday card to add to my co...

Another challenge entered

Good afternoon ladies Well! I have found time today to enter another challenge - this time a stamping one over at Stamptacular Sunday where the theme was based on a photo for inspiration. Here is my card & here is the inspirational photo Aren't they beautiful.  As I look at them now I suppose it was quite a good idea putting the flat back gems on the card - sort of reflects the dew on the petals. The card I used was all from a scrap box - which was still sitting on my desk after making the 2 cards yesterday.  The stamp was part of a free set on a magazine - the first issue of that new(ish) stamping magazine.  The ribbon was white satin ribbon which I coloured using the same Promarkers that I had coloured the little ballerina with.  I was really pleased with this card - I just wish I could get round the not so good photography.  It looks like it is curved & makes it look a little out of shape.  Never mind - practice makes perfect. Hop...

a challenge card

Good evening ladies I hope you have had a really lovely weekend.  The weather has been kind to us hasn't it? Today I made a card for one of the challenges that I try to fairly regularly enter.  The blog is Less Is More .  Today the challenge was called "Don't Scrap It" & the challenge was to use scraps so that they weren't scrapped.  Are you still with me? Anyway here is the card that I entered The coloured strip is from a 6x4 piece that I made quite a long time ago.  It was made using different ink pads & the Color Tool Box Stylus system - a double ended handle & different heads that could be attached to them. The heads were of different shapes - here it is the oval. Then whilst poking around in boxes of scraps & leftovers I also peeked inside my quilling box.  I don't do much these days but inside were these pieces including the little rose style flower.  They just went with the coloured strip & so the...
