a lovely day

Image
Good afternoon everyone. Yesterday I attended a day workshop with the Happy Stampers Festival group with retailer "Crafty Roo"  Click HERE to go to their website. It was a really great day & we got to play with their poly plates, which introduced some different techniques especially backgrounds. I haven't photographed my efforts yet but thought I would show you a couple of the sample cards that we were shown to give us ideas. The poly plates & distress inks are what create these lovely backgrounds.   I managed to last the whole day, but was very tired when I got home. I hope you are all having a good weekend. More tomorrow.  'Bye for now.

a celebration

A very good evening ladies - but rather late I must say; Yesterday evening I attended the monthly meeting of my HSNW club - (the one that originally brought you the Stamp Festival at Port Sunlight). The celebration? Well last night was our 21st birthday  - it is amazing to think we have been going that long.  Lots of people have been members - some still are - me for one. All because 4 of Carolines customers to her workshops (me being one of them) wanted more play time. So! HSNW was born. We had a pleasant evening with some demonstrations from members of the club & some nibbles & drinks to celebrate.  Non-alcoholic of course. I couldn't let an occasion of this sort to go unnoticed - so I made a card to give to the committee, for the members & here it is; I had the topper in my stash box waiting for the right card.  The "Happy Birthday" was a stamp I have had for some time - possibly free on Craft Stamper magazine - but not sure.  For...

My workshop project

Good afternoon ladies. I thought today I would show you the MDF mirror that I decorated in the workshop I attended on Saturday. The middle section is the mirror & it looks a little funny at the moment as I have not removed the protective covering. Here are someclose-ups of the squares / Jigsaw pieces; The 3 pieces like the one on the left in this photo - have been painted in a beige colour that has a hint of green in it.  The decoration is texture paste through a stencil (or mask). At the moment I am thinking of adding colour too those pieces  using pan pastels to get a delicate colouring.  It will be fiddly as the stencil was Carolines - so I haven't got it to place over the texture paste whilst colouring it. So if I am going to do it it will have to be when I am feeling very relaxed & steady handed. I would rather like to do another one using a similar technique as in our mixed media card. But as I am not sure wh...

some cards from a demo

Good morning everyone. I have just had a quick look back through the blog & it doesn't look like I have already shown these cards to you. Back in May I was the demonstrator at a club night for the Happy Stampers Festival club & chose to show them some one-layer cards. Here are some of the cards.  Some I took along with me & a couple I created on the evening; For this one I just masked off a small square area & used Distress Inks, Black Archival inks & a freebie stamp, then added the little bow. This one I used the torn paper technique, creating a layered background with the round blending tool to create circles, a script stamp in one of the background colours.  Underneath the butterflies it is white. This I achieved by die-cutting the matching butterfly shape & using them as masks.    Then I stamped the butterfly into the blank space. After finishing the card for me it felt unbalanced - it needs a butterfly in the top rig...

a different showcase

Hi everyone - just have time to pop in for a few moments & thought I would show you 2 cards that were made by members of my stamp group - HSNW - the stamp festival club! The reason I thought I would show them is that last year after having learnt the Pointillism & Etching technique with Joanna & Janet I showed it to that group around October I think. Then at our meeting in March this year one of the ladies brought in 2 cards she had made using those techniques.  This is always nice to see, as you know, & I am sure Joanna & Janet will be pleased to see them too. Pointillism technique Etching technique Close up of the flower with its dew drops. They were quite large cards & very effective. I hope you are pleased Joanna & Janet!  Thanks for sharing. That's me - must go.

Hi everyone here I am again as promised. Today I finished Gareth's birthday card - but you can't see it until tomorrow evening - after I have given it to him.  Bob & I are taking him out for a meal at the local new Gastro Pub near us.  Gosh that's two eating outs in three days - will have to watch my weight!!!!!!  I wonder how long before people stop calling it the new Gastro Pub? Also today I finally decided that I must finish my samples for the HSNW Festival Exhibition board.  Those of you who go to Port Sunlight will know that we always have an exhibition of members work on display. I had come up with the idea a few weeks back, cut out the card then decided to give it a bit more thought, as you do.  They are needed this week by a colleague in order to set up the boards.   So! after a phone call from her to remind me to put them in the post to her I set to & finished them.  A couple of places I got frustrated as thi...
