Thank goodness for ....

... mobile phones. Sorry I didn't pop in & write anything last night after the Mold meeting - I was actually a little tired. It was the first meeting of the year & of course as is usual for me - I had been to the first of my monthly lunches.  So obviously after the Christmas & New Year break I am out of condition & also my memory didn't seem to be working, as I forgot to take my camera with me last night.  Hence the heading - which should of course be extended to say - ....... with cameras included. So, I have lots of photos for you - their Show & Tell, along with their project & also 3 ladies brought in their 2014 project round robin book.  They put them out on show & then left them with me so that I photograph them more carefully here at home.  There will not be a shortage of photos for the blog for sometime now, especially when the rest of them bring their 2014 project in next month, & those for the other clubs as well. I will...

Mold meeting

Image
Hello everyone It was a little quiet (well in numbers at least) at the Mold meeting tonight as there were quite a few ladies absent - after all it is the holiday season, but we had a good evening & tomorrow I will show you the photos from their Show & Tell. There won't be any photos from the evening's project as we were talking about the colour wheel & everyone worked on a blank wheel applying the appropriate colours. Something learnt from the evening is that you need to either have a whole range of colours in pens, or at least have pens that will blend well - so bear this in mind when it is your evenings turn to look at this.  I don't think the very warm room helped in that respect tonight.  Nonetheless we had a good evening. To brighten the post up here is a photo of my lovely petunia hanging baskets.  Mind you I think I took this fairly late in the evening - so its not too clear. More tomorrow when I will have those photos from tonight. Sleep w...

mold january meeting - part 2

Image
Time for the second set of photos from the Mold meeting last week.  This time it is for the project of the evening using the wood mounted stamps in the Christmas pressie packages. a really nice Clean & Simple card - less is always more & the colours are lovely I love these neutral colours & the block "quilting" is absolutely great When I first looked at this photo I thought the card had an Art Deco look about it - probably mainly due to the top image. Another lilac card & I like the panel down the length of the card - that layout works really well. These strips are not stuck down - so I expect to see a totally different layout later.  So watch this space. Now we are not sure where this one is going to end up.  I think the idea was that 2 sections would be put together to make a "bauble" style object.  There is a lot of fiddly work there.  I think this could be another - watch this space. Same finishin...

mold meeting

Well despite the weather 6 brave souls made it to the meeting tonight - those who didn't attend would have been the ones with further to travel & therefore very sensible.  I hope those ladies who did attend had a safe journey home.  I think the conditions are likely to really kick in during the early hours of the morning. I was chauffeur drive (gosh have I spelt that right?) as despite knowing that the problem I had with the car could be fixed tomorrow - another fault seems to have developed.  It was find as I went around in the morning & afternoon but when I went to drive to the meeting as I turned the steering wheel to move there was an awful screeching noise.  I am certain it is not the clutch it wasn't that sort of screech.  So Bob took me to the meeting - in fact he stayed & read his ebook & chatted to the ladies. I have lots of photos to load here - which I will do tomorrow. Please please take care over this spell of weather - don't m...

Mold photos- part 1

Hi ladies Before I put the photos from Mold club Show & Tell on Thursday night I just want to say thanks to Joanna who has left a comment on the blog from last nights post.  Part of the comment was some advice on using my new tree die that Sue bought me yesterday,. It is always very handy when someone you know has already used a new item you have just acquired.  I am sure that sentence doesn't make sense.  Joanna hasn't used MY new item but has some of the dies & is passing on her experience.  Yep, that makes more sense. Right, after that bit of waffling here are the photos - where the task was to make Twinchies;  A single twinchie & it's actual colour was more lilac than this shows.  I love the different elements of it. This twinchie has an acetate background & an acetate butterfly.  I forgot to ask if it had been treated with alcohol inks - so perhaps the owner will let me know. A pretty teabag folded twinchie ...

Good afternoon & a nice sunny afternoon it is too. The photos this time are the ones from the Mold June meeting project which was "Paper Piecing".  In case you are not sure what that is - it is actually quite simple.  You stamp an image on a piece of card for example in black ink, Then you stamp the image the required number of times for your design on different patterned paper.  The pieces stamped on the patterned paper are cut out & glued over the plain image.  Great fun. Oh she is cute.  Her hat & dress have been paper pieced.  It is possible her boots have too or they may have just been coloured with pens. A beautiful flower image & there is a lot of work in this with the flowers & the leaves having been paper pieced. This is amazing as it looks like it has been ultra thick embossed after piecing. Another lovely image with some very delicate cutting out around the leaves. That is a really nice lay...

Mold club meeting

Hi ladies I have just got in from the Mold meeting this evening.  I have quite a lot of photos to share - but I am afraid it will not be until tomorrow. I may also have some photos of what I was up to earlier today. Afraid I am too tired after a busy week & a particularly busy day - sorry - to fight the computer. Back tomorrow - night night

Here I am again ladies I am still mystified about no photos for the show & tell last night - I really thought I took them - but I don't recall anything going wrong when I loaded them onto my laptop.  A real mystery. Anyway, now for the photos of the project last night which was the puffed image. What a lovely bear - not the best photo - but look at his tummy you can see it is puffy Everybody loves this mouse - he pops up a lot - I have got him but haven't used him yet Aah! Tatty Ted - the light coming in from the left really help to show up his roundness This lily looks really good - almost looks like a bit of quilting Kimono's work really well with this technique.  The technique is a bit awkward to photograph though so this does not show as good as it was. I don't know what this little character is called but the technique works well with him too A different colourway for this pretty kimono This was a tricky image to use as the petals are independent ...

Mold meeting - photos from January

Image
Good evening again ladies Just popping back to the missed photos from last night - if you cannot photograph them but have a printer/scanner & can scan & save them then email them - that too would be useful.  What am I like. Before I forget - if you pop back to the entry on Thursday where I mentioned Burley Dam & it's new craft shop - you will see that a comment has been left.  When I first read it I couldn't think what it meant - then the brain kicked in.  Very good Joanna. So back to the matter in hand - the cards that were brought back of the January project which was the acetate domed card I had these images from "Making Cards" Magazine - they are really nice to work with This is sooo cute! I forgot to ask if the sentiment was one stamp or alphabet stamps to make the sentiment Love the catch to keep the opening section closed You can see the acetate in each of them & the domes were of different heights.  My sample had the "card...

A plea to Mold members

Hi Mold ladies I have just loaded the photos from last night only to find I didn't appear to take the Show & Tell cards.  I think what happened was I took the photos of the project from January then the photos from the evenings project & said the items to my left were finished & could be taken which of course included the Show & Tell. So! the plea is - if you happen to hang on to them could you bring them back in March for me to photograph - but of course as they were based on St David's Day you may want to send them to someone. Of course if you are technically mended - you could photograph you card & email the photo. I will keep my fingers crossed that some of you will be able to bring them back Perhaps I will eventually remember to bring my brain with me to these meetings??!!! I will be back shortly with the photos I  did take. 'Bye

Mold meeting

Hi ladies I have just returned from the Mold February meeting where we took on the technique of the puffed image. I have quite a lot of photos for you but they won't get loaded until tomorrow.  There are 3 photos of cards made last month with the acetate dome; photos of tonight's Show & Tell & also of tonight's project. All three clubs have now done this project & I think you all seemed to enjoy doing it & also pleasantly surprised at how good it looked no matter what subject you chose as your image.  I do hope you will all try it again some time & experiment with the inks & card you use.  Let me know how they turn out. Tomorrow I am meeting my friend Caroline at Inspirations, the florist wholesalers on the Wirral & I suspect we will then move to one garden centre or another for lunch & some good nattering. Talking of Garden Centres - on the A41 there is a garden centre call "Burley Dam" - I understand they...

Mold first 2012 meeting

Image
Good morning ladies I am sorry I didn't post yesterday about the first meeting of this year for Mold.  I think I was so frustrated with myself for forgetting to take my camera - (hence the Oops lady - mind you it's many a year since I looked like that).  Even so I did get photos of the Show & Tell on my camera.   This means of course that I have to smile nicely to Bob to extract them.  Having said that I am going to try & email one to myself & see if that works.  If it does I can send the rest. It was so annoying to have forgotten my camera last night as there were some really nice cards made with the acetate dome on & I knew that I wouldn't do them justice via my camera.  SO A BIG REMINDER - Mold ladies please pretty please next month bring back your acetate dome card so that I can photograph them. Also, & the real reason I needed my camera last night, 3 of the ladies had brought their 2011 project cards i...

Mold meeting

Good evening ladies I have just returned from the final meeting of the year for Mold where we had the most enjoyable evening. I have taken photos of the Show & Tell which tonight was a Christmas ATC & the project was a little card that opens different which I called "a three way card" because it opens three ways. As usual I cannot put them here today but will load them tomorrow. As it as the last meeting we of course closed the meeting with mince-pies & a drink. Joanna who helps me quite a bit with ideas for the club brought in an unusual table centre-cum-card holder to show us & quickly said how it was made.  The base of it is a book.  Do pop over to her blog & take a look it really was interesting & all the ladies liked the idea.  As you must all know by now I till not alter a book - this almost tempted me.  You can see it by clicking HERE . With everyone leaving the meeting saying "have a nice Christmas" - did make it seem so m...

Mold meeting tonight

Hi Ladies This is a quick pop in to tell you a little about the meeting for Mold tonight. I have photos of their show & tell which was following a sketch & several ladies brought in their bamboo tiles for us to see.  I forgot to take mine in - so will photograph it tomorrow morning & include it in the photo show. Also there are photos of their show & tell - but I didn't photograph their project - which was the little inchies box.  Ah well - need to organise the brain a bit more. We discussed some ideas for the 2012 programme & Joanna briefly explained the technique of embedded embossing.  She is going to write some notes about this & I will put them on the blog under the tutorials page.  It is a great technique but not easy to do at a meeting evening.  But when the notes are on the blog do please try it out. There was two lots of members news to tell you about as well - but I will give each of those their own post, also there is st...

Mold August meeting

Hi everyone I have started typing up some of the blog before going to the meeting as there were a couple of things to chat about. I seem to remember that I did mention that I joined the UK Stampers Network - paper exchange club - when I visited the Stamping show in Wrexham.  Yes - I did I remember telling you how Sue & I came to be at the table.  There are several sections & the one I joined was the Gift Tag group.  I have now received my first set of tags.  I have to take one out & put one in & send the envelope on to someone else in the group.  I also have to make 4 identical tags & start those on a similar round.  But along with my first gift tag came another package.  Mickey the lady demonstrating the group at Wrexham was putting the names of everyone who joined that day, in a bag & at the end of the show a name would be drawn out & that person would win a little bag of goodies.  It turns out that I was the winne...

Mold club night

Good evening ladiesIt's just a quick pop in tonight following the Mold club night. Tonight I took them in the packages of card & papers & embellishments to make two cards with. They didn't seem too impressed with the items when they first looked at them - but the evening got quieter & quieter as they worked & I think most ladies even forgot to make themselves a drink. The Show & Tell tonight was the ATC from a sketch - & there were some good designs.  I remembered to take my camera along & have taken photos of them all.  Should be able to put those on the blog tomorrow. Today I purchased a new piece of software for my photos - one where I can size them to the size I want in terms I understand properly.  I have been sorting through last years wedding photos as I still have many to put in an album - but I like a piece of software that I can tell it to increase the size to 8 x 10, not xx numbers of pixels.  I understand t...

Mold meeting part 3

Image
Good Saturday afternoon ladies Well, I think I am just about getting over the fantastic meal I had last night.  The portions were very generous - most enjoyable -  but somewhat more than I have been eating lately.  So today I am somewhat full. I am popping in today to post the photos of the show & tell from Mold II's meeting last Thursday.  I have, in the past, been having problems with slide shows & have sought some advice as to how to eradicate them. The problems that is, not the slide shows.  For now I am going to put all the photos in separately as I did the ones in yesterday's post. If you want a slightly bigger view just click on the picture & it will open in a different window.  You can even click on it again & increase the size a little bit more.  Just click on the back arrow to return to the post.                      ...
