another recent card

Image
Good afternoon So! the snow came back for a little while - well at least in Hawarden.  I am wondering whether some of you who live further along the North Wales coast or are in the ore rural  areas may still got some. If you do I hope it isn't too bad.  It is raining here at the moment so we have gone full circle again. Now the cards - today's photo is of another recently made birthday card; After a play with Brusho crystals a while back I had this piece of decorated white background card remaining so I decided to use it for a birthday card.  I stamped & embossed in white the floral spray, then used the brushos like normal paints to colour the leaves & flower.  I then layered it onto another piece of white card, then onto pale purple, then onto the base white card.  The greeting was stamped in lilac pigment ink & then embossed with clear EP.  A couple of lilac gems were added for a little bling. I am going to make sure I have everyting for tonight'

a recent card

Good afternoon everyone & what a strange day it has been weather wise. Whilst I was sat at my craft desk earlier it started to rain really heavily, then I noticed there were flakes of snow in it.  The rain then stopped but the snow continued.  Now as I sit here typing this the sun is out & there are blue skies. Today I have a photo of a recent birthday card I made - I used just cream & black.  The card base & layer were cream card with a black layer between them. I embossed the cream layer with this rather nice embossing folder which has that nice oval just the right size for the flower stamp. The flower was stamped in black & embossed with clear EP, also was the greeting. I stamped & cut out an extra flower which I mounted onto the base stamped image. Then I punched 2 holes & created a faux bow with narrow black ribbon. Today I have bee busy making birthday cards for some imminent birthdays - so I have had a really nice crafty day. Tomorr

A technique revisited

Image
Good afternoon everyone. I do hope you all survived Doris & your properties are safe & sound.  Gosh didn't it blow & rain? The rain kept waking me up in the night - so a bit sleepy when it was time to get up, & I had a rubber stamping workshop to do. The photos to show you today are from a technique I have been revisiting, in order to demonstrate it at my HSNW club next month.  The technique is - resist.  HSNW has some new members who have never done this technique so that is the reason I am showing it. I decided to create a sample of the versions that I have chosen by using tags (labels). It is quite a nice way to actually make a techniques keepsake as the tags can be held together with a book ring. These few tags were cut from glossy card - actually it was some 6x4 photo card I had.  The inking & stamping works well on them - but embossing causes the shiny part of the card to lift from the smooth side.  So not a brilliant finish.  But I will still

Some recent items

Image
Good afternoon everyone - I do hope you haven't been blown away in this dreadful weather or experienced any damage to your properties.  Make sure you stay safe. I have photos today for you of some recent items I have been making for my friend's scouts tombola stall . They are little post-it note pads.   On a couple of them I found some little floral panels to decorate them with & the other 2 I stamped, embossed & coloured the image. I have a couple more to make for them. It's a great use of oddments of papers & images. More tomorrow of things I have been creating. 'Bye for now.

Page updates

Just popping in to say that I have made an alteration to the club pages. Extra information about the project - "Draper or Curtain fold cards"  has bee added.

Just chatting

Good afternoon everyone - or it may be good evening by the time I publish this. I do not have any crafting to show you today - or talk about.  Yesterday I had a few hours out with Sue which was very nice.  We went along to Abakhan at Mostyn & had a look in the various shops, then had a nice lunch & a very long natter. During the afternoon I started to get a bit of a headache & I was due to go to my club meeting for HSNW.  I rang to offer my apologies to cover the chance I might not make it.  I am rather glad I decided to stay at home as the headache developed into a migraine along with the flashing lights. That would have made driving very difficult. Today I have finished some little post-it note pads, & these are going to a colleague who is in the Scouts movement & he will be putting them on one of his stalls.  I think he uses them  as tombola prizes.  I will photograph them later & show you tomorrow. I hope you all had a good weekend. That is me for t

a special card

Image
Good afternoon everyone I do hope you are having a really nice weekend. Today I am going to share with you the Valentine's Day card I made for my lovely hubby; The base card is from a sheet of Crafter's Companion white with a hint of gold card (can't remember its proper name).  The items used are from a freebie set on a recent magazine.   I used the embossing folder on red mirri card & again on the hint of gold card.  The red mirri I sanded back to reveal the core (which sadly was silver but it fitted in OK).  I then cut the heart shape from the hint of gold card embossed piece & stamped the flourish heart & "with love" onto it.  The little heart stamp that was part of the freebie I stamped in Watermark Ink & heat embossed it with scarlet EP.  I the die cut the "Valentine" & "Husband" & heat embossed them in the scarlet EP as well. I thought it worked very well & I am thinking of sending a photo of i

mold photos - part 2

Good morning ladies. This morning I am popping in to show you the photos of Mold clubs project for this month & it was the Pop-up book Card. Quite a few photos this time as I have photographed the outside & inside of each one; Joanna chose a sepia colourway for her card with an Eastern / oriental theme.  The design just suits any subject. Joan's card is a really lovely clean & simple style in this delicate blue shade & floral insert. Rhiannon's card has a woodland feel due to its colour & the leaves & dragonflies on the background paper, & the seed heads on the front. Yvonne went for a clean black & white design.  Then you open it & the insert just pops out at you with that gorgeous purple shade. I love Clare's topper, those humming birds are beautiful & the sentiment with it. Then you have another "pop" insert with the black, grey & white stripe insert. Sh

Good evening everyone This evening I have the first set of photos from last night's meeting of the Mold club.  They are of their Show & Tell which was the easel card from a sketch.  Sadly there were only 5 cards to show & tell; Lynn has turned her sketch around as you can see with the 4 sections going out to the side. A lovely peacock design with some glitter & peacock colours in the papers that were used. Sheelagh has made her show & tell card into a golden wedding anniversary card. The stripes were made from hand made stamped washi tape. Really lovely I am sure the couple will be delighted. These poppy sprays in Joanna's card were just the image for this design. It would make a lovely remembrance card Joan very cleverly created her 4 panels by using a black pen for the lines. Green evidently is this years colour. Rhiannon dry embossed all the pieces that make up her card in these nice pastel colours Well done la

Good afternoon ladies Today I have a member  showcase for you & it is from Joanna of Mold club. Joanna used the twist & pop-up card design to make a Valentines card for her son to give. That is really lovely Joanna - I am sure the lady receiving it will have been delighted. It is such a versatile style of card - I am sure we are going to see more & more of it this year. I have actually made some cards today - two birthday cards & will show you them in the next day or so. That is me for now - it is the February meeting for Mold club tomorrow.  So Friday I should have photos for you. Enjoy the rest of your day. 'Bye for now.

Local Interest on Hochanda

Good afternoon ladies - I hope you all had a good weekend. This morning when I was on the TV Guide for Hochanda to see what might be of interest in the coming days I found that on Sunday 19 at 3:00 pm & again a little later, a local company will be featured. It is Inkwell - who have a base in Kinnerton.  Click HERE to visit them, they also have a Facebook page. Inkwell is owned by Lesley from Kinnerton & her sister Gill who lives South Wales (I think), but in any case quite a way from Lesley. I  first met Lesley when at a cross stitch club I was involved with quite a few years ago. I bumped into Lesley again some time after leaving the cross stitch club & found she was then into stamping & again later that she had started her own stamp business with her sister Gill.  Inkwell regularly appear at the Happy Stampers Festivals. I do hope they have a very successful show. I have not done any crafting today as I have have been a little off colour the last 2 days.

Club pages & Project Photos page updated

Just to let you know I  have updated the above pages for Mold &  Mold II March programme &  CSNW April programme.

another chat day

Good afternoon ladies Another day without crafting - well for me it is.  Although this morning I did have to do a little crafting as I had, as I said in yesterday's post, my 3-some rubber stamping group.  Mind you I did tell a porkie - they were not doing a card that you will be making in March they were doing the card that you are doing this month (or for CSNW next month) - the pop-up book card,  But nonetheless they will be doing the card I thought they were doing at their next session, which will be before you do it in March. After I have finished chatting on here I will be posting details on the club pages & the project photos page. I have searched out some acrds that will help us all use up some of that paper stash we have & a lot of the time are not sure what to do with it.  I have chose the projects I have because they can also be created by using papers that you stamp for yourself.  So I am not leaving rubber stamping out of the equation - we will be stamping.

just chatting

Good morning ladies Just popping in for a chat today as Bob & I will be out later meeting up with a friend of his from early schooldays.  We will be having a meal & a long chat so by the time we get back home it will probably be a little on the late side for blogging. But this morning I have had some crafting help from Bob.  He kindly test drove part of the instructions I have been writing for a project you will be doing in May, & as he deals a lot with technical writing I thought it would be good for him to test the instructions.  It proved very useful as there was one point when a little more explanation was needed - but he produced the end result which was the important part of the test.  Some things were just a little awkward to explain & I had done some of my little drawings - but Bob suggested photographing the actual step, which made sense.  So some pictorial changes to be made to the notes.  It only goes to show 2 heads are better than 1. Tomorrow I have m

A recent card

Good evening ladies. First here is one of the cards I made recently & I think that with this one you will have seen all that I have made so far; I did show you one similar to this before - the colours are different to the other one & I haven't put any of the little pearl drops on this one. I am sorry I didn't write a post yesterday - but I spent all day playing with an idea I have for a project for the clubs & it took me quite a long time to write the notes - mainly due to this blooming keyboard. I have to read through as well as spell check to see where letters are missing, as not all errors are treated as spelling mistakes.  Bob has said he will change it for me over the next week or so. After writing the notes I then read them through followed by making the item again to see that they made sense.  Of courses then I had to see in what way the design can be adapted.  So the time literally ran away with me.  I won't be showing them to you until clos

Mold II photo - late entry

Image
Good afternoon ladies Today I have a late entry photo from Dot of Mold II club & it is of her Twist & Pop-up card that she made at their meeting the other Tuesday.  I showed Dot's card along with all the others but she had not finished the inside or put a greeting on the front. This she has now done & has sent me the photos; That is a lovely card Dot Dot also told me that she is going to finish it with a belly band to hold it closed. A really good idea. Well I have had a good weekend & got all my stamps sorted - & selected those that will go on my new stamp storage unit.  Hopefully I will be able to do that tomorrow .  At the moment there is a hitch in that the shelves for the storage system came with acrylic shelves & on one side they are covered by some white paper (?) with big blue writing on.  The website shows these shelves as clear - but I cannot get this printed cover off.  So I have written to Ali Reeve at Clever Cuts to see what the

Good afternoon ladies Hmm! Or is it good evening! This afternoon / evening I have a member showcase for you & this one is, once again, from Rita of Mold II club.  As one of her cards has been featured in the latest issue of  "Quick Cards made Easy" on the letters page. It's a really lovely clean & simple card Rita. I love the contrast between the dotty bow & the gingham ribbon - very effective. I have my die cabinet all ready now for the dies - I glued the magnetic sheets on this morning & have left it for a while to make sure they have really stuck before I start putting & taking dies from it. Have a good weekend. 'Bye.

Good afternoon everyone - I hope you are busy making your plans for a great weekend. This morning I received an email from Betty, recently of Mold II club.  I say recently as she decided not to rejoin the club this year but is keeping an eye on the blog to see what we are up to & also she is still making cards.  With her email was an attachment showing me some cards she had recently made using things from her stash. They are really lovely Betty & so colourful. Glad to hear that you are continuing to make cards. Do keep sending us photos - we will love seeing your work. I haven't done any crafting today but this weekend I am going to be sorting my stamps & dies that are going to be stored on my new units.  Bob very kindly put them together for me recently & I have left them until now to fill, in order for the glue to cure.  The die one will be quite heavy when it is full. The idea is to take the other 2 die units & remove all the dies then pu

Good afternoon ladies Oh my gosh where has this morning gone!  I have been busy but didn't realise the time I had gone by so. This afternoon I have some photos for you from last night's CSNW meeting & they are of their Show & Tell - which was to make a handbag. This lovely floral card by Ruth has a nice square handle & she did not use a template for the bag.  Love this pink paper that Grace has used for her little handbag.  Pink thread was used for the handle & some bling around the edges. Gwen's beautiful blue bag has some stamping on it ni a paler blue & that lovely clasp is a resin style button & it has an organza ribbon for the handle.   Gwen threaded 2 brads through the button holes to embellish it.  Great idea. We should all be looking at our buttons in a different light now. Joan found a different shape for her lovely blue bag & the flower medallions adorning it are stamped. Well done again ladies th

Good afternoon ladies. I have had a really successful day today.  A short while ago I found something I thought would make a good project one evening so I sat down to make some samples.  I have to say it went very well & I am pleased with the results.  It will be on the programme for Mold & Mold II in March & CSNW in April. I will be putting te photos on the blog later this month. I have also prepared everything for the CSNW meeting this evening - their first one for 2017.  So photos tomorrow of that. The member showcase I have for you today is from Clare of Mold club.  It is a card she made last year & I suggested that she send a photo of it for me to put here. I hope you don't blush easily. Great card. Cheeky!  Clare. I have just noticed that along the edge under the card it says something about "DT card for a blog". So that is why you brought it in to show us -- I think. That is all from me today ladies - more tomorrow &
