My day at a workshop

Image
Good afternoon everyone - I hope you are having a good weekend. Right, I am here with the photos from the workshop I attended yesterday.  Some of the photos I took during the workshop as I wanted to record the gradual progress.  As there were 7 of us - plus the tutor - sitting around the table, along with all the bits & pieces for us to use it was a bit of a squeeze, & so those photos are a bit squashed as well as the canvas was directly in front of me. This is the canvas with it's first pieces of embellishments on.  You all know I do not like tearing books up - so I was relieved when the tutor had some photocopied sheets of music available. At this stage we have added images through stencils (or masks if you prefer) using flexible filler. The sort of thing you use to fill cracks! There were 2 size of rose, some honeycomb shapes & some ivy style foliage. Now we have started adding die-cut embellishments.  There were these little...

Good evening everyone Well I have not long returned home from my canvas workshop & a most enjoyable day it was too. I took some photos as the canvas evolved - but they are on my phone - so I need to get them off & into my computer.  Tomorrow morning in a good light I will take a photo of the finished canvas & show it to you during the day. There are parts of it - including some of the colour that I am not too happy with - but it was a learning curve.  The beauty of it is - if I really don't like it I just cover it in white paint (for example) & start again. In my craft room I have 3 fabric "canvases" - one large & one either side that are a little smaller. They are very nice - quite plain & simple - but it would be nicer to have some of my own work on the wall.  So once I am happy - that is where it will go.  I am back there again on 7 December for a different canvas - so that will be 2 towards the wall.  The second one is going to ...

quick pop in

Good morning everyone. Sorry I didn't post last night - I had a really good day making cards & by the time I thought I should take photos the light was not good.  Then during the evening I had the start of another one of those migraines - you know the flashing lights.  So I decided looking at the computer was not a good idea. This morning - in the next few minutes in fact - I am off to Birkenhead for a workshop with canvases.  Will report bacik tonight. Have a good day & weekend

just chatting again

Hi everyone - well what a day it has been!  But the weather seems to have calmed at last - mind you it is just coming up to 10:00pm. Didn't we have some downpours?  During my workshop this morning the hailstones were positively bouncing off the car park surface. So! My 2 crochet workshops went well today - it is one of the earliest crafts I ever learnt to do & mainly taught myself.  My take on learning some things is - get the general idea going & then get down to the why's & wherefores to the correct way to do it.  If in fact there is a correct way. From the point of a subject like crochet - does it matter if you don't quite hold the hook right or wrap the yarn around your fingers / hand correctly - or the assumed correct way?  Are you creating the item that you set out to create - is it coming out as it should - if the answer is yes - you are the winner. That is how I teach people to crochet.  I have 2 ladies who look like they are half ...

Good evening everyone. Does anyone have a spare brain they can lend me? In yesterday's post I said " I have a workshop in the morning - crochet ".  Wrong - workshop was in the afternoon, & the trouble was I didn't find this out until I got to the garden centre.  So nothing else to do but return home & get on with some stamping until it was time to return for the workshop at the correct time. I managed to stamp 18 more Christmas toppers - 12 of one design & 6 of another.  I had already stamped some in the design that I did 6 of - but the other design was a new one.  The design of 12 I then went on to cut out - with scissors, & the 6 are waiting to be die-cut within a frame.  Still lots to do. When I have made a card with one of the 12 toppers - I will take a photo for the blog.  That may not be until Friday as I have a workshop in the morning - crochet.  Yes - I do!! This time it is in the morning - because I have another one in ...

just chatting - a digital card

Good afternoon everyone - hasn't it been a lovely day! I have decided on what other design I am going to use for my Christmas cards & hope to work on those tomorrow afternoon.  I have a workshop in the morning - crochet. After doing some shopping & housework - (ughh! - how did that word get on here) - I sat & worked on the card for the CD Sunday challenge.  The theme this week was "Pennant Parade" - bunting I think. Anyway here is my card, I hope you like my choice of "bunting" & if you want to read a little of how it was made then just pop over to my digital blog. & a close-up of the "bunting" I hope you have all had a good day.  As well as more Christmas cards tomorrow I have to start wrapping some goody bags - now who can they be for! 'Bye for now.

Good evening everyone - I hope you all had a good weekend. Today I tried to find a couple of different ideas to use in my Christmas cards - but didn't like the outcome - so I am afraid they only made the waste paper basket. Lunchtime I met up with 2 friends for a really nice leisurely lunch where we did some catching up with what had been going on in each of our lives, & having a really good natter about this & that as well. After lunch I returned to my Christmas cards & put my thinking cap on again whilst adding the little splashes of colour to some of my already stamped toppers.  I took a little time out from the Christmas cards to sort out a design for the challenge over at CD Sunday this week.  I sorted the design I wanted & got everything printed off ready to make the card tomorrow, after which I must continue with Christmas cards. Well that's my little blog for today - more tomorrow possibly with some photos. Night night - sleep well.
