just chatting

Good afternoon everyone Today I have been busy making the various lucky dip Christmas cards for the 3 North Wales clubs & we also exchange them at HSNW - so 4 in total to make. Two are actually made & the pieces are waiting to be put together for the other 2. Tomorrow is the final meeting for this year of the Mold club & we are having another visit from Carolyn of Mold II club to show us the lovely frame card. It is so hard to imagine that the year is almost over.  I hope you have enjoyed the various things that were organised for your meetings & that you will also like those I have started organising for 2017. Don't forget to come forward with ideas for me, please. Right - I had better get back to my card making & then put together the paperwork for tomorrow night & prepare the club box. 'Bye for now.

putting samples together

Good morning everyone. Sorry I have not been around for a couple of days - but I had the special birthday card for Nadine's Mum to finish & it needed a box & an easel as well.  Then of course I had to make one for Bob &  to send to her - so time just whizzed by over the weekend. I will be able to show you the cards at the end of the month. Also I have taken a very short break from Christmas cards, to sort out some of my sample pieces & put them together for cards. This also means I will return to Christmas cards a little refreshed. This is how one of my play pieces, from the Bokeh technique at the Mold II meeting, came together; I have other pieces still to use as well. Then I also have the samples worked for & at my workshop in the garden centre.  That day I was showing the ladies the Folk Art technique that you had been shown by Rita of Mold II club; This one is the sample I worked beforehand to show the ladies. These...

a birthday card

Image
Good evening ladies I do hope your weekend is going well! Today I have the photos of the 80th birthday card I have made for a friend of ours. He works with Bob & when he was 60 I made his birthday cake.  It just doesn't seem 20 years ago. I used this great little train die to decorate the front of the card as he is very interested in trains. Initially it looks like a fun card.  The background on the front panels I downloaded from Google after asking for royalty free backgrounds of landscapes. I didn't have a card to fit the die-cuts so had to make one to suit.  I resized the landscape background then cut it in half so that when the card is closed the landscape is continuous. This is the background on the main section of the inside.  He is also very keen on the Flying Scotsman - so once again Google & royalty free images came to my rescue.  I just had to resize it to fit my card. The photo of the Flying Scotsman is when it made its ...

Some different photos

Good afternoon everyone. Today I thought I would take a break from showing photos of cards & show you some photos I took this morning of ... the world outside. First thing I noticed when I looked out over our garden was the patterns in the sky - real feathery clouds; What about that beautiful blue sky! Then at about 9:00 I had to go down to the garden centre for a workshop & it was when I went out to the car that the lovely clear night that had preceded this lovely bright morning had brought the first frosts. It was when I got in to start the car that I spotted the frost patterns --- so I got out & as I had my camera with me for the workshop I took some photos. This one is taken from outside the car. When I got back in the car I thought the definition was clearer - so I took those 2 from inside. They were so pretty it was such a shame that I had to start the car & put the heater & windscreen wipers on & watch it gradually...

Christmas cards

Image
Good evening & tonight I have a couple more of my Christmas cards to show you. The first one is in fact another version of the one I showed yesterday - part of the set for Bob Then I also created a couple of this design; I embossed the front of the card with the holly design folder & stamped the bauble onto separate card & heat embossed with silver EP. After cutting it out I coloured just one flower using Distress Inks & a paintbrush.  The Merry Christmas is stamped & embossed in silver & the tag cut into the flag shape. A little red bow at the top & some of the holly berries picked out completes the card. Tomorrow morning I have a workshop at the garden centre with my 3 rubber stamping ladies.  At the moment they are trying out different craft techniques & tomorrow I am going to show them the folk art painting that Rita showed the Mold II ladies earlier in the year. That's me ladies - more tomorrow.

another Christmas card

Good evening ladies. Today the card I have to show you is one of the set of Christmas cards that I have been making for Bob; I created a stepper card & covered the bottom panel & side panels with embossed card outlined with silver border peel-offs.  The topper was coloured with red & green Distress Ink & the stamped image & words were heat embossed in silver EP.  I was going to use the Bokeh technique but changed my mind, stopping at just using the inks. Today I have had a couple of  hours out with Nadine in order to select the ribbon & flowers that will appear on her Mum's 60th birthday card that I am making for her to give.  We decided if we could find some pretty fabric flowers I would use those instead of creating them from paper & card. A colleague of Bob's is 80 in 10 days time - so I will have to use part of tomorrow making his card. That one is a bit of a challenge - but we will see what happens. That is my vis...
