hello again

The weather here has got a little damper this week – which is going to affect how we fill our days from now on.

On Monday we decided today to find the lake that Stuart & Jean had told us about. Bob checked the map as Jean had said it was near a place called Mael.  There were two places – Mael-Carhaix & Mael-Pestevien
We tried Mael-Pestevien first as you could see a lake on the map.  The drive as always took us through beautiful countryside & when we found the lake we couldn’t actually see how to get alongside it.  Plus there was supposed to be a water garden there too & this place did not have that.  So, we drove to Mael-Carhaix.

This was the right one – but as we arrived it starrted to rain – so we took a short stroll by the lake & could see that the gardens stretched quite a way.  So we have stored it for a visit on a better day – I just hope we have one left in the holiday as this week is definitely much wetter.  To round off the day we took a long country route home – that is back to the gite.

Yesterday – Tuesday – we took a drive over to Le Grand Blockhaus at Batz Sur Mer.  The Blockhaus was a German gunnery command post in WWII.  This was about a 2 hour drive through the lovely Breton countryside.  The coast at Batz Sur Mer was really rugged & interesting.  After looking around the Blockhaus, which was very interesting, we started our journey back to the gite – or at least the restaurant where we would be having our evening meal.  On the way we stopped at Roche St Barnard & beautiful village on the edge of a river set in a valley.  It obvioiusly attracted sailing enthusiasts as there was quite a large marina there.  A very restful hour was spent by the water.

That brings us to today – when after getting our shopping, checking emails & popping something on the blog – we are going to visit the lake with the frogs.  One reason is to book a table for our meal tomorrow night.

Over the last few nights we have had “visitors” – we are not sure what they are but they run up & down inside the roof space above us.  Jean & Stuart thought it was just birds on the roof – but we are convinced it is something in the roof.  Last night was a great night for the “visitors” – for nearly 2 hours off & on they were running along (or inside) the roof.  It took me ages to get to sleep.

I am not sure if I will get a chance to blog again before wending our way home, but if I get the chance I will.  The best chance will probably be at the hotel on Saturday or Sunday night.

One thing I must mention here – or perhaps it is 2 things – is to say thank you to Joanna from Mold club & Carolyn from Mold II club who, as well as running the June evening for me have taken, & sent to me, photos of Show & Tell cards and Project cards.  I will download those when I get home & put them on the blog.  A very big thank you to you both.

Next week I will show you photos of some of the places we have visited.

‘Bye for now.
I hope you are all well.
