Les Miserable

Don't know if you would be interested in our visit to the cinema tonight to see "Les Miserables"?  But I thought  - what the ...... I will tell you about it anyway.

Some years ago Bob & I went to London to see "Les Miserable" on stage, in its early days - it was wonderful & we just fell  in love with it.  Since then we have watched various anniversary shows for it & I have bought him the various anniversary DVD's.

I had heard various reports recently of the film  We have all seen the hype on the TV for it for the Oscars etc.  I had heard reviews & snippets of it on the radio & didn't go much on the singing that I heard

So tonight I went with mixed feelings.

Wow! if it is your sort of genre - go see it.   If it isn't  - then you are missing something really special.

I admit I couldn't see how they could make the film with the actors singing live, & what actors - would you have put Russel Crowe in a musical?

Well after tonight take it from me - yes I would & yes they can.  But for me I am now in love - completely & utterly  - with Hugh Jackman.  I am not sure I really knew who he was before this - but wow - he really takes that part so well.

Gareth went to see it last week & he told us tales of people openly crying.  Well the lady next to me was certainly sobbing quite well.  But most noticeable was the fact - for me - I have never heard a cinema so quiet throughout a performance, & at the end  they applauded just like in a theatre.

Yes! it won me over & I am hooked once again.

Have a great weekend & forgive my gushing tonight - but really - go & see it
