Good afternoon everyone This afternoon I have the last of Betty's (Mold II) showcase cards that she sent me to use & this time it is definitely cards not card; Goodness me Betty - you have been busy. What a great set of cards  I can think of a couple of people that I send cards to that would appreciate a shed. Thank you for sending them in Betty & good luck with those sent to the magazines. Just a quick visit today ladies.  Have a lovely weekend. 'Bye

another card

Hello ladies I am here today with another of my recent cards & this time it has been stamped. The stamps used on this card were part of a freebie set on a magazine some time ago & I hadn't used them for a while. I do love the Macintosh style - it can look clean & simple like this or really full of colour.  The card is a cream scalloped card & the stamping I did in black archival ink & embossed it with clear EP.  I then added a little colour with my pearlescent watercolour paints.  I used a bronze colour. Sometime last week (I think) Lesley from Chocolate Baroque was on Hochanda & showed her Macintosh inspired stamp set.  The samples were both clean & simple & also vibrant colours.  I must try this set with some vibrant colours they looked really good. Still more to show you. 'Bye for now.

Good morning everyone Just wanted to pop in & say that I hope Mold II have a great club night tonight with Rita - sorry I won't be there with you. I don't know what your project is & look forward to seeing some photos of it & learning how it was done. Have a great evening & I look forward to seeing you all at the July meeting. 'Bye for now.

Hello ladies I hope you are all well & that you had a good weekend. Today I have another of the cards that Betty (formerly of Mold II club) sent me recently & what a beautiful card; I don't think you can beat a nice clean & simple card & this one is stunning.  I have looked closely at the photo & I am wondering if the floral strip is behind the top & bottom strips of card.  I am sure Betty will get back to me & clarify. Or it may just be a clever use of masking & that grey line above & below the image. I look forward to hearing from you Betty.  ðŸ˜Š More later - 'byee.

two more cards

Good afternoon everyone I have been going through my photo records of the cards I have recently made (going back over the last few months) & here are 2 I have not shown you. When you see them you will notice I had a session using my freebie Hunydory papers & card. I was really taken with this kit - it is so pretty & cheerful. These cards were for a lady very poorly in hospital after a fall.  One was a personal card from me & the other I made to be sent on behalf of members of a group we both belong to. I hope they cheered her up. Next post will be a member showcase for you.

a new home card

Image
Hello everyone. At the end of May a young lady, who works with Bob, & her boyfriend moved into their new house - so I made a card for them. It's from another freebie Hunydory kit & I thought the little birds outside their lovely birdhouse would make a nice change from the usual images. I had a set of metal keys in my stash & first I coloured it with some alcohol inks, but didn't like the colour.  About 18 months ago I inherited a mixture of embossing powders from a friend who had given up stamping - & when I went through them - there was this lovely powder blue colour.  Now the key is just perfect for the card. I have some "house" stamps - but they are either fussy & detailed or almost cartoon. This couple definitely deserved something a bit different.   Well, that is me for another day.  More later.

A special card

Image
Hello ladies Last year a colleague of mine had a book published that she had been writing & a few weeks ago we learnt that she had received an award for it. My colleague comes from India & the stories in the book are in that genre.  The award she has received the Culture award by the British Indian Society. I wanted the card to reflect her book - here it is; I copied the front cover of her book onto white card then used the Tattered Lace book die to cut the book shape. The keen eyed amongst you may notice that the cut should be the other way up.  I had so much trouble with the die that I didn't notice when I had to reposition it that I had turned it round.  But it still looks like a book shape. I also Googled the award Logo & put that on the insert.  There isn't a nasty white splat on the insert - I have masked out the group name.  She actually was officially given the award on 14 June. That is all I have for today.  'Bye for now.

Another card

Image
Hello everyone. Today I can show you a card I made for a young lady who reached the ripe old age of 40 this year; I used toppers & papers from that Hunkdory kit I won rather a log time ago. The "40" I put inside the card trying to be a little more discreet than usual.  The it is going down slowly - it certainly has gone a long way. Looking through my card photos I find there are several I have made recently that I have not shown you - so they will appear slowly over the next week or so. That's me for today - bye for now.

just chatting

Good morning all This evening is the June meeting for the Mold club ladies - my first visit since being poorly - it will be so nice to see everyone. I won't be showing you the photos of their project, as Mold II will be doing it as well - but not until July - & I don't want to spoil the surprise.  At least I hope it will be a surprise.  CSNW ladies will also be doing the same project in July - so all 3 club photos will be show one after the other. I am about to update the project photos page with photos for the Mold July meeting.  I will be showing Mold II ladies & CSNW ladies the same project sometime - but not sure when. Right, off to put the box ready for tonight. That's me for today. 'Bye

a recent card

Good afternoon everyone - what a lovely day, so nice to see the sun & I think we have been promised it for a couple of days. Today I have one of my recent cards, which was for Nadine & Russ's wedding anniversary.  It was earlier in May - so not sure why it has taken me so long to show you. The card is the art deco shape - it is just sitting on a piece of white paper so that it shows up better. I made it from a Hunkydory kit that was free with a magazine. The centrepiece is a box & the "couple" pull up out of the box by the art deco top & looks like a bookmark. The greeting is on the reverse side. I have some more of my recently made cards to show you - so probably back tomorrow with another one. Enjoy the rest of the day. 'Bye

Good evening everyone This evening I have one of Betty's (Mold II) cards to show you, that she sent me last week. What a great card, Betty. I love the knight he really looks ready for action. I hope you all had a nice weekend.  We have had our grand-daughter here with us today which has been very nice indeed. Before she came round I had a busy morning making quite a few birthday cards & a special congratulations card for a colleague who had written a book last year & received an award for it.  I will show you the card when I have loaded it on my computer. That is all from today. 'Bye for now.

csnw photos - part 2

Image
Good evening everyone. This evening I have the second set of photos from the Wednesday night meeting of the CSNW club. As a change I chose a non-stamping project, which was in fact the easy folk art style that Rita of Mold II club showed the ladies about a year ago.  I find it very relaxing & love the effect. The ladies really enjoyed trying this project & here are their photos.  At this point they are just designs on black card - but I am hoping some of them at least will come back next month as toppers on cards.  We were rather a small gathering that evening - so just 6 photos to show you; This circular design from Gwen has little sprays coming out of the circle at regular intervals - perhaps a little harder to see as she then added some more decorative dots. The centre circle of the design has the little swirled roses on it. Grace also did a circular design & really went to town on the dotty surround to her 5-petal flowers. Claire decided on a

Good afternoon everyone Today I have the first set of photos from the CSNW meeting on Wednesday evening.  At the April meeting the group made the drapery cards but not all were finished so they had planned to bring them back for the May meeting.  Unfortunately I could not make that meeting so they brought them with them on Wednesday.  Here they are; Two of the folds from Ruth in very delicate colours & some pretty lace embellishments to compliment the drapes. Three very different finishes from Grace - using all of the designs - I like the way the corners in the top card just complete it Claire brought along her delicate double drapery card which is embellished with a lovely lacy butterfly in the centre. I really must change Claire's name card because it is not spelt correctly on there. One of each design of drapery from Ann with some really pretty embellishments & stamping. I love the way Ann has used the "waste" from

Going through one of my magazines to see if there were any competitions in it I fancied trying - I spotted the card I had been looking for that Betty had had published.  How I had missed it all those other times I don't know. I will photograph it & post it tomorrow. Betty, - I will email you with details. 'Byee!

Good morning everyone. Last night was the June meeting for the CSNW club who meet in Rhuddlan.  The ladies brought along finished cards from the last meeting we had which was at the beginning of April & some Show & Tell cards from May's meeting which didn't take place due to me being ill.  So, I had lots of photos to take, along with photos of their project last night. Bob & I are going to be out most of today meeting with a friend - so I won't have time to load the photos & resize them for today.  I will do that tomorrow & start showing them later in the day. Therefore for todays post I am showing you a member showcase card which is another of the cards that Betty (formerly of Mold II club) has sent me; This card is beautiful Betty.  I love the way you have used the flowers as a border to the focal image & what a lovely different Christmas card it makes.  Goodness - Christmas cards!  I think I made a couple earlier in the year in the ho

member showcase

Good afternoon ladies A couple of days ago I mentioned a member showcase card I wanted to show here, but that after looking through my magazines I couldn't find it again. I contacted the person who had made the card - but she didn't know it had been published & couldn't tell me what it was like as she had sent several cards to the magazines. The member I am talking about is Betty who has recently stopped coming to the Mold II club - but I am happy to say she keeps in touch & is obviously still making cards.  Betty has now sent me several photos of her recent cards all of which have been sent to the magazines - so I am gradually going to show them here, one by one. The one for today is this one; This could very well be the card I saw as the papers & stamp were free on a recent magazine. Thank you for sending them in Betty & I am pleased to see that you are still crafting. This evening it is the June meeting of the CSNW club & this w

Good afternoon everyone. Well, the plan today had been to bring you a member showcase, but when I sat down this morning to look out the item in the magazine(s) - I couldn't find it.  I even went to the blue bag in the shed & looked through the ones that had been put.  Not there either.  I am sure I didn't dream it so I have emailed the person concerned & wait to hear back. In the meantime here is another of my recently made cards; This was another of my early resist technique toppers turned into a card. I like this particular part of the technique, as you colour the cadr with 2 or 3 inks over the white embossed image, then stamp again with another image using the inks that are in the background. It is really nice how when you stamp with the same ink over a coloured background the colour appears stronger giving quite a bit of depth to the finished item.  My splodge stamp got used again for the background on the fancy edged base card. That is all for to

A recent card

Image
Good afternoon everyone.  I do hope you are all having a good weekend & it seems like it is going to be a nice dry one. Today I have another of my recently made cards to show you; This was one of the first cards I completed when preparing for my resist techniques demos. The text stamp I bought at the Stamp Festival last year & I cannot remember the name of the company. At that time they were on the stand next to Honey Doo stamps.  I don't think they were there this year.  But it is a really great background stamp.   As you can see there is some layering of stamped images in this one with floral images behind the text.  The flowers are from Dreamees & the splodge stamp I have had for years & it is now getting a new lease of life. When looking through some current magazines I spotted an item for a member showcase post - so I will photograph the item & post it tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. 'Bye for now.

Some more work in progress

Image
Good morning Yesterday afternoon I spent a little time sorting out the things I had been doing immediately before taking a break. I had given several demonstrations on the resist technique, both at the craft shop at Daleside & Mold club, & at Happy Stampers club.  In the process of  demonstrating the various methos I gathered quite a few toppers & tags.  So I sorted through them & seperated out the ones that were suitable for turning into cards. This is what the samples looked like when I emptied them on to my desk; and here is the first card I made today with one of those toppers. I was quite pleased with the way it turned out. The black card in the background is just to "lift" the card from my glass craft mat, as the sun was shining on it. It says "Sorry" because it is a Belated birthday card.  Sorting the samples & making this card has given me my mojo back I think.  I am not sure were I had left it but it was defin
